The case stemmed from a shooting reported in the 2000 block of Auburn Avenue, just off Salem, on July 13.

Officers arrived to find a 34-year-old man critically injured with a gunshot wound, Dayton police Lt. Steven Bauer said.

Cox reportedly shot the man multiple times while police said he was trying to steal approximately $3,200, according to Dayton Municipal Court records. But he was found not guilty of the theft-related counts.
